The root vitex doniana also known as black plum very useful, multi-purpose tree providing food, medicines and materials. It’s harvested from the wild. The edible fruits and leaves are sold in local markets by the natives but very rare as it’s not an everyday plant. It has it’s own season.
The root is anodyne. A decoction is used to treat gonorrhoea, ankylostomiasis, rickets, gastro-intestinal disorders and jaundice and the root also serves as for backaches and abdominal pains.
The root of vitex doniana is anti HIV remedy and even a possible solution to the dreaded aliment.
